Sneak Peek...

The wedding I photographed on Saturday was a lot of fun.  The day centered around family and friends.  Even with 250 people in attendance it felt close and intimate.  Here are a few quick images that don't give too much away.

The church and the priest that married the bride and groom were so warm and inviting.

This is our little ring bearer keeping himself occupied.

And oh how I love a cake and a chandelier!

The Holidays....

The Holidays are upon us and I could not be more excited!

I am not sure if it because I am listening to Christmas music (shhh, don't tell my brother he will roll his eyes), or what, but when I turned this image into a black and white just now it shouted "holidays" to me!

It might be the Christmas music, it might be the chill in the air, it might be all the baking I am doing lately, but the fact remains...I can feel the holidays upon us.

A New Adventure...

Adapting my photography style to these Chicago winters is going to be an adventure, but as long as I keep doing it with clients like Kim, Eddie & Abby it is going to be a fun and rewarding one!

Photobucket

Kim contacted me to take photos of her new little one, Abby, a few months back.  We were both so excited and have been planning this session since.  We met at Lyfred Winery out in Roselle, IL and it was a lovely location for photographs.  We faced rain off and on throughout the day, but as long as Abby didn't show signs of getting cold we ventured outside for 10 minutes at a time to shoot.  She was such a good baby!  She was so happy the entire time clapping, and singing, and showing off her crawling skills; so, what did we do...well, clapped, and sang, and crawled along with her of course!

Photobucket

I am told when I was little that the neighbor kids would run alongside me and sing ♪Baby Abby, Baby Abby♫ and I now understand the appeal.  It was hard not to chant ♪Baby Abby, Baby Abby♫ with a giant smile!
This Baby Abby was enchanting! :  )

Sweet Treats...

Our dogs are by no means spoiled rotten on the whole, but if you were to only look at short glimpses into their lives you might get that idea!

From the time Bella was a puppy I let her lick the beater after making mashed potatoes, cake or cookies.  She would come running when she heard me clicking the beaters into the base.  When I was done, we would sit side by side on the kitchen floor.  I would lick one and I would hold the other one out for her to lick.  I would let the beater gently twirl in my hand as her tongue found every last bit of yummy batter.

Well, now I have two dogs, so Papa and I get the bowl and eat more batter while cooking and now I let two dogs lick the beaters, one on each side, as they gently twirl in my hands.

Date Night...

Evan and I went on a yoga date tonight.  It was our first yoga class together in quite awhile and I must say he is the best!  It was an all-levels class so it was not as challenging as he would like, but it was super relaxing!  If you are in need of a stress reliever I highly suggest a low-level or all-level class.  They are all about breathing and your basic stretching poses.

Evan put us front row center, apparently we are both the front row center kind, and when she asked if anyone was new our hands shot up.  When she finished "...new to Yoga?," we both bashfully mumbled over each other, "well no, not new to yoga, just new to this class, sorry."  The rest of the class went smooth until Evan's hand once again shot up into the air to volunteer us to demonstrate a group activity to the class.

It was essentially a backbend, but she was calling it a "dropback" which sounded scarier.  I hear her say great, two volunteers...apparently I had been volunteered due to proximity, so I stood up.  The teacher and Evan stood on either side of me and supported me as I eased into a backbend.  It wasn't so bad until the teacher released me.  Evan knew better and made up for the lack of support, which I was not ready for, but my back still stressed on her side.  Next time I will just do this little doosey with my husband...or the balance ball.  I tried the balance ball next and it was pure bliss.

Moral of the story, I put my trust in only my husband at Yoga class from now on, which I think will become a Tuesday tradition!

Weddings...

Weddings - I love all of it, especially now that I get to observe it all through my camera!!!  I love the corny titles that I could give to albums: "With this ring...", "Love is patient. Love is kind.", "Mr. & Mrs.", this list goes on and on!  I love the hustle and bustle of the day.  I love the opulence and grandeur of the event.  But most of all, I enjoy basking in the renewed love.  The way it uplifts your spirits to see two people so overjoyed is unmatched.

I was honored to spend the day with Anna and Paul last weekend.  What made it even better was a veteran photographer Melissa Miller (don't bother Googling her, she is only word of mouth, it is all very "hush, hush" you know, just kidding Melissa) and my wonderful Aunt Kim were there.  I learned so much from watching these two amazing ladies craft photographs!  Between the three of us I do not even want to know how many thousands of photographs this bride will have.  I do know one thing though, she is sure to cherish all of them!

Since we had a very tight schedule, and it was going to be very dark after the ceremony concluded, and there were three of us, I shot the day in more of a documentary style.  We arrived first thing in the morning to be with the bride and her bridesmaids while they were done up for the day.

At one point the bride exclaimed that now knew how Kim Kardashian felt and that she herself could never be a celebrity, so we decided to leave her to her girlfriends and scour the hotel for places to photograph details.  You know me...my favorite part of any day is "Details, Details"!

The gift exchange was a very fun event at this wedding!  The groom was on the second floor and the bride was on the seventh, so we had a fun morning shuffling back and forth to capture all the action.

What girl would not brighten at the sight of a new Coach purse!

Then we stole the groomsmen away for some photos in a near by park.  The sun was at peak height so we took our time getting to know the personalities in this group, and boy did they have some fun together.  There was nary a moment that went by without a joke.  We laughed ourselves all the way through photos and the guys had a great time doing it.  One really wanted a jumping photo, so we decided to be daring and make them jump of the ledge...these military men were up for the challenge!

The girls were primped and ready when we got back to the hotel.   The bride wanted a few portraits in a park with the colors of nature...so off we went to another nearby park for a few of the bridal party.  The girls all looked beautiful!

Off to the church where the flowers were waiting for us and Saturday Mass was just finishing.  The bride and groom were right across the hall from one another, but were very careful not to see each other.  I was on level five alert to make sure this bride got her wish and her groom did not see even a glimpse of her before her father walked her down the aisle.

The ceremony was beautiful and everything went perfect.  This newly minted Husband and Wife was thrilled to make the procession back down the aisle.

It was so fun to be around the bridal party because they were all friends outside of their rolls as bridesmaid and groomsmen.  It was not hard to see that this Bride and Groom had surrounded themselves with their closest group of friends, and boy did they have fun!

The toasts had everyone laughing and the dancing went into the night.  Everyone poured on to the dance floor for the dances that ask you to kick your heels up, hop, and cha-cha!  And, the bride lead them all!
