Thank you everyone so much for your kind words for my Grandmother and for my post yesterday. It meant a lot to me and it meant A LOT to my family.
I love words...I always have. Poems, books and lyrics have always touched me. If a song has good lyrics it could have about any musicality and I will love it. Evan has gotten used to it now, but when we are in the car I love to point out the one stanza in a song that makes my heart melt. I will wait the whole song just to hear 5 words and I will often tear up because of those words. It usually goes from our normal banter to me yelling "wait, wait, wait....here it comes."
One of the ones that always gets me is DMB - Crash. The part that gets me is "You wear nothing but you wear it so well". The others I can think of are much sappier and much less fun.
Do you have any words like this?
There is a sculpture in Tempe, Arizona that is hidden off the beaten path. It is about 5 feet tall and kind of curls up into a point like an ice cream cone. It has a level swirl all the way around and children enjoy running up the swirl. The part that gets me is that this sculpture is covered in black and white mosaic tiles with small sayings or collections of words. There are also a few graphics, but it is mostly meaningful quotes or abstract words. Needless to say I could photograph this sculpture all day.
I would love to take a photo of someone's engagement ring along some of these words. I think it would be a very special experience to let an engaged couple pick out a few words and photograph her engagement ring alongside the word.
I might be a sap, but give me good writing and my soul shines.
